The Colour of Perfume x Cathy Abraham

The Colour of Perfume x Cathy Abraham

Everything we see, hear, smell, and taste is filtered through perception.

Curious to explore how another artist might translate scent into colour, we invited Cathy Abraham to respond to our range of perfumes through her language of pigment, gesture, and light.

We wished to be surprised, even unsettled, by her interpretation; to witness how fragrance might shift when seen through her eyes and hands. As we observed her responses, a question arose: could we accept and inhabit her vision?

This curiosity mirrors a wider need in the world: to embrace differences, to allow another’s perception to expand our own, to find beauty in others’ perspectives. This dialogue between scent and image becomes an act of transmutation, where essence becomes matter, and perception crosses thresholds of the seen and unseen.

A master of translucency and tone, Abraham’s symbolic and meditative approach to painting resonates with our philosophy of life and craft. We commissioned a group of paintings to represent each perfume, now showing at our shop at 29 Pepper Street in Cape Town, starting from Wednesday the 29-th of October 2025.
